Job Description

This multiskilled role delivers administrative duties to ensure the organisation is compliant within a regulatory environment and to its own set standards, and operates to weight and grade carcasses. The role will alternate these responsibilities weekly alongside a second compliance assistant / meat grader.

Role Responsilbities as Duty Supervisor:

– Support the Head of Production to effectively plan and manage the staffing of the line

– Work closely with OV, meat inspectors and grader to proactively manage and adapt to challenges

– Communicate effectively across the line and with their team members e.g lairage and 5th quarter supervisor

– Lead from the front on demonstrating the organisation’s workplace culture

– To ensure compliance to regulations on the line, including ensuring all staff are trained in their positions utilizing correct PPE and working within SOPs

– Adapt and amend planning and staff positions throughout the day for effective delivery against KPIs

– Effectively manage breaks, and stock throughput to optimise line outcomes

– Work closely with trainers to upskill staff on the line

Role Responsibilities as Meat grader:

– Examining animal carcasses and classifying these to both regulatory and customer specification

– Data management on the organisations management information system, including printing of labels and tagging

– Working with procurement administration on farmer weights and grades, ensuring accuracy and rectifying errors

– Provision of quality of carcass dressing to inform development of production teams

– Demonstrate the organizational workplace culture

Skills & Experience Required

– Experience in the meat / food and drink industries essential

– Experience of accreditation bodies / compliance preferred

– Food safety trained

– Experience of working within high-risk environments with responsibility for health and safety

– Grader qualifications to be supplied

– Excellent written and spoken English

– Computer literate
