Job Description

The Financial Controller role is crucial to the financial health and success of the business. Responsible for financial planning and analysis, budget management, reporting, compliance, risk management and leadership of the finance team. Working closely with the Managing Director ensuring sound financial reporting and decisions making.

Role Responsibilities

– Deliver a high standard of accounting service and generate measured deliverables

– Identify and implement continuous improvement projects of accounting and financial reporting processes with the goal to achieve best practices and optimal output.

– Preparation of weekly management accounts

– Reporting of all weekly and monthly financial information.

– Monthly balance sheet reconciliations are performed in a timely and accurate manner.

– Ensure an accurate and timely monthly and year end close.

– Management and delivery of the key KPI information for the managing director on a weekly basis and for the board of directors as and when required

– Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the Product costing and associated product margins

– Ensure that effective financial control processes are in place

– Ensure adherence to Capital Expenditure policy to include the recording of all items while maintaining pertinent records and ensuring adequate treatment of fixed asset acquisitions and disposals.

– Where appropriate assist in re-engineering accounting processes, put in place controls and reporting to help minimize financial reporting error.

– Create a good working relationship with other departments to ensure their reporting needs are met.

Skills & Experience Required

– Qualified Accountant with a minimum of seven years PQE.

– Strong planning, interpersonal and diplomacy skills, motivated to deliver a responsive, proactive service.

– Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

– Strong technical background with financial accounting experience.

– Strong financial process and system’s experience.

– High level of numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.

– An excellent eye for detail.

– Able to command respect and influence at a senior and board level, debating with confidence and diplomacy.

– Innovative, resilient, decisive and resourceful in problem solving.

– Trustworthy to work on confidential and sensitive matters with the utmost discretion.

– FMCG experience.

– ERP System Experience.
