Job Description
A retail butcher will cut, trim, or prepare consumer-sized portions of meat for use or sale in retail establishments.
Role Responsibilities
– Operates switching controls to direct and drop carcasses and meat cuts from supply rails to boning tables.
– Prepares meat for packaging
– Adhere to strict health and safety regulations
– Cut and process the three main species, such as beef, lamb and pork into different cuts
– Operate various pieces of machinery and equipment
– Process meat into exact cuts as per institutional or commercial requirements
– Transfer carcasses to freezers and chillers
– Use a scale to accurately measure meat for processing
Skills & Experience Required
– Good standard of both written and spoken English.
– NVQ in Butchery
– Worked in a similar role previously
– Good knife skills
– Able to Perform Physical Work
– Health and Safety Awareness
– Punctual
