Job Description

Our client is currently seeking a Senior Finance Assistant to join their busy department on a permanent basis.

Role Responsibilities:
– To provide a quality service to our customers
– To achieve set objectives effectively within specified timescales
– To supervise and actively participate in the accounts payable function, including but not limited to reviewing and posting invoices and credit notes, administering control procedures, resolving discrepancies and maintaining records
– To provide information and advice to colleagues across the business on modules within Navision
– To assist with daily banking and reconciling bank accounts in accordance with procedures
– Preparing and posting journals on Navision
– To assist with tasks to enable the production of monthly management accounts undertaking a range of tasks such as calculating and posting recurring journals, balancing subsidiary trial balances, undertaking forex revaluations and generating reports as required
– To support Credit Control and Customer Services with banking related functions including sending and collecting payments
– To assist with the preparation and administration of monthly VAT return
– To assist with control procedures including checking and reconciling accounts
– To prepare ad-hoc reports/analysis
– To provide administrative support for the department
– To contribute towards & encourage teamwork within the section and other departments
– Any other delegated tasks within the post holder’s capabilities
– To provide day to day supervision of the Finance Assistant and ensure compliance with company procedures and policies.

Skills & Experience Required:
– Self-motivated, reliable and flexible
– Ability to work effectively as an individual as well as part of a team
– Collaborative working and knowledge sharing
– Have good numeracy, verbal and written communication skills
– Will have experience of working in an office and using the Financial Management module of Navision or a comparable finance system
– Will have several years’ experience of working in accounts payable
– Have an understanding of the requirement for performance in accordance with the six policies
– Confidence enforcing Financial Regulations with internal customers
– Confidence liaising with external suppliers
– Have an interest in working towards an accountancy qualification
– Previous supervisory experience and evidence of relevant training (or willingness to undertake training)
