Job Description

Our client who is a well established yachting & shipping company worldwide are seeking an experienced Crew Superintendent who can work on a busy portfolio of vessels in addition to supporting the P&I Manager with a full range of P&I tasks.

Role Responsibilities:
– Day-to-day running of a busy group of vessels, including selection and recruitment of seafarers
– Crew changes (including travel, hotel, visas)
– Review of appraisals/monitoring training requirements
– Forward planning
– Maintenance of our in-house crew package
– Authorising of Invoices/Port Disbursements
– Ensuring that adequate insurance is in place for all vessels for crew liability & cashbox
– Ensuring that the relevant P & I Club is informed of all crew P & I cases and that claims are submitted timely
– Liaising closely with manning agencies regarding cases which result in Disability Compensation of Court Action
– Checking & authorising of final wage accounts for seafarers who have signed off P & I
– Calculating sick wage entitlements in accordance with crew contract and ensuring payments are paid promptly to respective bank accounts
– Checking that disbursements are analysed in accordance with the prescribed procedures to identify and code recoverable expenses
– Ensuring that compensation is paid (where applicable) in accordance with the crew contract
– Compiling and submitting crew P & I claims to the appropriate Club
– Ensuring that all submitted claims are paid and that an accurate account of monies outstanding is maintained
– Keeping accurate records relating to deaths, injuries and illnesses occurring on each vessel
– Compiling and supplying statements & statistics as required

Skills & Experience Required:
– Previous experience as Crew Superintendent is preferred or experience in a crew administration role
– Self-driven, proactive, and dedicated to excellent client service
– Able to take accountability and responsibility for own personal development
– Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels
– Intermediate experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
– Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
